Loss of Small Details
Solo exhibition, 2019
Kunsthalle Turku, Turku, Finland
The starting point of the exhibition The Loss of Small Details has been photographing a 100-year-old house using 3D scanning. In my work, the digital camera has gradually been replaced by a 3D scanner. I randomly started 3D scanning my relative’s old house, but my 3D scans were not very successful. The spaces and objects were only partially captured, and the 3D models were full of holes. Still, I felt that the fragmented 3D models were a good starting point for my works. I didn’t feel the need to fix the flaws. The mistakes produced by new technologies serve as a metaphor for the fragility and transience of life and memories.
