Satu-Minna Suorajärvi (b. 1967) is a sculptor based in Helsinki. She first trained as a physician, graduating as a Licentiate of Medicine from the University of Helsinki in 1993, before studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she graduated with an MFA in 2008.

Medicine taught her to observe closely and to see the fragility of the human body. In her art, that way of looking turned towards nature and technology. Her works begin with a question: how do leaves breathe, what remains of a memory, why do corals lose their colour? Rather than presenting nature as a beautiful object, she looks for what is hidden inside it: processes, structures and changes.

Since the early 2010s, digital tools have been central to her practice. 3D modelling, scanning and growth algorithms let her study forms that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and digital fabrication turns them into physical sculpture.

She has completed public commissions in Finland and Sweden, and her works are in collections including the Finnish State Art Collection and the Wihuri Art Collection. She teaches at Aalto University.
