About Me


Satu-Minna Suorajärvi (b. 1967) is a Helsinki-based sculptor who uniquely bridges traditional sculpting techniques with digital technology. Since graduating with an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, her practice has focused on expanding the language of sculpture through 3D computer software, algorithmic modeling, and parametric design.

Digital sculpture and COVID-19 lockdown

During COVID-19 lockdown I have been making a lot of 3d modeling with Rhino Grasshopper. 
Digital working and social distancing meetings with Zoom, Teams and Skype have helped to participate virtually.
Skydiving sculptures lasercutted wood pieces came to my studio and there are much awaited physical work ahead.
